Hungry? We serve award-winning home cooked food and have some exclusive student discounts for you.

Amaretto Deli has long had a great relationship with students, particularly those from NUA (Norwich University of the Arts) which is located just down the road from us on St Georges Street.

This year, we’ve crafted three special lunchtime discounts for students. If you’re new to Norwich and haven’t tried our food before, or whether you know us well, if you’re in full time education and can prove it with a card or app, then these offers apply to you:

Student discounts:

Any pizza slice: £2 (20% off full price)

Any panini: £3 (over 25% off full price)

Any ready meal £4.50 (10% off full price)

We also offer a loyalty cards for hot drinks: buy nine hot drinks and your tenth is free.

Our panini are made fresh each morning, using locally sourced bread including focaccia, baguette and more. Our cod goujon is justly famous, and the tuna baguette a daily favourite. The pizza is thin crust, made in the pizza oven room just beyound the til, and served until about 4pm. There are a variety of pizza toppings, which change daily and if you have a particular favourite we will make a new pizza for you as you wait, if possible. Our hot and cold meals also vary daily and include vegan food, vegetarian food, salads, hot dishes like lasagna, pasta and parmigiana, all made fresh in our kitchen each morning.

The Amaretto Deli Christmas table is stacked full of original Italian chocolates and festive food that are decently priced and wrapped in rich colours. They make for lovely stocking fillers or Secret Santa gifts.

Christmas is a time for good food, good company, and, in our opinion, thoughtful gifts that do not cost the earth. Novelty stocking fillers or Secret Santa gifts can be fun, but increasingly, it does not feel so good to fill up our homes with short-lived gifts that end up going to land-fill sooner rather than later.

As the commercial buzz hots up, one way of avoiding lots of short-lived or wasteful gifts is to invest in some really nice food.

In terms of stocking fillers, Amaretto has a number of gifts between £2.50 – £7.95 that fit the bill:

Chocolate covered nougat, £2.95

The nougat is soft, the chocolate is dark and rich: and this stick makes for old-fashioned good looks in a Christmas Eve stocking. (Please note this gift is not available online).

Chocolate liqueurs from the north of Italy; £7.95, assorted flavours.

These chocolates look way more expensive than they are – why not try a mixed bag full of rum, amaretto, limoncello and cherry liqueur chocolates: buy one for your colleague then one for yourself: you won’t regret it.

We’ve had these gifts in the shop for years now, and people come back for them year after year. We are the only place in the country to stock this smooth and tasty Italian coffee.

These are just some examples of the smaller gifts we have on offer – we also have Torrone, panforte and lots more, all wrapped in lovely paper, and famously delicious.

All our Christmas gifts are sourced from Italy and popular; we’re pretty sure that nothing will get wasted here!

Looking for some special Italian Coffee that you won’t find anywhere else?

Our coffee from Vinci called La Torrefazione Caffè Leonardo is back in stock in our Norwich deli – and you won’t find it anywhere else in the UK.

The coffee is roasted just along from the hill-top village where Leonardo da Vinci was born in 1452, and our Fabrizio a few years later – this coffee is his taste of home.

In operation since the sixties, the artisanal producer has had decades of experience in the hard coffee drinking Italian culture. They have perfected a roasting process that eschews all chemicals in order to create distinctive bags of beans or ground coffee in either medium, strong or decaffeinated blends for expresso machines, your stovetop coffee pot or cafetière.

The coffee is available in small or large bags, beans, or ground, depending on how your habit goes.

They bags of coffee also look great; and do well in a hamper or as an original Christmas gift.

Hungry? Our takeaway sushi lunch box is available every Friday

In partnership with our friends at Shiki, an independent Japanese restaurant in Tombland, Norwich, we offer a delicious and filling takeaway sushi lunch every Friday alongside our other specials; all available at Amaretto Deli, 16 St Georges Street.

The sushi include salmon, tuna and delicious raw vegetables; just take your pick of your preferred box. Consisting of a healthy portion of your favourite filling surrounded by seaweed and sushi rice, the sushi is served complete with ginger, fresh wasabi, soy sauce and of course chop-sticks.

Due to the fact that the food isn’t cooked and served within minutes, the fish is cooked; so this is a different kind of experience to fresh sashimi, the sushi that consists of raw fish, but just as delicious. (It is still officially sushi – as that term actually refers to the kind of sour rice used in this kind of food, not the fish…)

Shiki is a fantastic restaurant, long beloved of foodies in Norwich, and anyone who enjoys well-made, authentic Japanese food. If you’re ever looking for a good meal, we recommend it, especially their elegant Bento boxes, or Tuesday night all you can eat buffets: perfect for a celebratory treat. Their plum wine is a great accompaniment; don’t miss out on that. All the food is beautifully served, and looks as good as it tastes. We eat there for every staff Christmas meal, and always have a brilliant time.

If you’re interested in the takeaway sushi box, please do come and see us at Amaretto Deli, 16 St Georges Street, NR1 3BA any Friday afternoon. If you’re feeling particularly keen do come close to 12.30pm, as this sushi lunch does often sell fast.

Turlu Turlu, a new and delicious gluten-free and vegan hot lunch

Turlu turlu is a Turkish dish which is similar to ratatouille. It’s packed full of deep bodied flavours from the root veg, herbs and spices which is great if you’re looking for a tasty, gluten-free and vegan lunch in Norwich.

Made with root vegetables, aubergine, chick-peas and and that richly flavoured tomato sauce, this lunch will appeal to you if you want something healthy, delicious, filling. Something a little bit different.

This is a new lunch for us so we’d love to know what you think. Please do let us know if you try some in the coming weeks.

We serve a variety of warm meals each day, and would hope that if you’re looking for something gluten-free or vegan lunch in Norwich that we would always have something for you. We also serve daily hot soups throughout the autumn and winter, and fresh pizza through-out the afternoon. All the food is made fresh in the deli each day, of course.
