Here at Amaretto deli we have a shop full of goods that are perfect for Christmas gift hampers. We find most people are keen to make up their own and so we have been running a successful personalised gift hamper service for some years now. The great thing about this gift is that it looks fantastic and you only pay for the food that you choose and the hamper materials (£4.95). There is no extra mark-up. We’ve had orders for hampers in Norwich from people across the world.

A personalised Christmas hamper delivery service that’s easy to use.

Prices start at ten pounds, and you can spend as much as you want! Orders range from a small nest of cheese, to a wide-ranging array of food; it really is up to you. Once you’ve chosen your food we’ll lay out your gifts on rafia and dress the hamper so that you have a present that looks as good as it tastes, and that is unique. If you’re buying online you can either collect the hamper yourself or, more usual, have it sent to any address in Norwich NR1-NR7. (Do feel free to write a note for us to include in the hamper at the check-out stage; most people do.)

If you come in to the shop we can happily advise on popular Christmas hamper ingredients for loved ones of varying tastes. If you’re buying online, then do just browse our online shop and the collections there. Most people order a mix of dry and fresh ingredients. The fat Gordal olives are a favourite, finocchiona (fennel) salami, and fontina cheese, and of course our popular gift bags of cakes.

Christmas Gifts for Foodies: Cakes, chocolates, hampers and stocking fillers available now

If you’re looking for some tasty, original and good looking gifts, why not browse our Christmas food. Each year Fabrizio trawls his Italian artisanal suppliers to find the most delicious treats wrapped in paper and ribbon and they make for lovely presents. We have lots of chocolates and traditional sweets for you to choose from, led by the Italian classics: Ricciarelli (almond cookies), Panettone, Panforte and Pandoro (Christmas cakes), Torrone (nougat) and Cantuccini (hard almond biscuits perfect for dipping in alcohol!).

Italian Christmas Cakes

Italians will be gifting their cakes all through December, eating generous slices for breakfast, or mid-afternoon with a glass of Vin Santo. The cakes have become increasingly popular in UK supermarkets over the years, however if you’ve never tried an artisanal cake, we advise you to give it a try. They’re a proper treat and they look great too.

Our favourite is a good Pandoro (‘bread of gold’). For many though, the taste of Christmas is Panettone (large bread), the candied treat wrapped in that brown and gold paper – yet what about the round, hard discs of fruit and nuts; Panforte (‘strong bread’). Each has their own merits.

Preorder food for Christmas or New Year now

Looking to beat the crowd? Get ahead and order fresh food for Christmas or New Year now.

In the final week before Christmas, our shop gets very busy as everyone comes in to order cheese, olives, salami, hams and all the other lovely food that makes for a lovely Christmas spread.

If you’d like to, this year you can pre-oder food from Amaretto Deli using our online shop. We offer food for click and collect or delivery in NR1-NR7; it’s easy to do and you can specify your ideal delivery slot on the delivery note section of the order. We are open up to and including Christmas Eve, and then re-open on Tuesday 30th for New Year’s.

Do browse our cheese category to find your cheese board selection; including melt in the mouth gorgonzola and the sheep’s milk cheese, manchego. This semi-cured cheese is delicious and a tasty choice for those who can’t tolerate cow’s milk. You’ll also find membrillo paste, made from quince, which is a great accompniament to your cheese board, and makes a nice change from pickles.

If you’re looking for some cured hams for your Christmas or New Year table, then browse the prosciutto, ham and salume category; here you’ll find the fragrant finochionna (fennel salami), which is addictive, laced with fennel seeds and merlot wine and is refreshingly light in flavour. There is also the classic prosciutto di Parma DOP, and the Bolognese luncheon meat, mortadella, which is always a favourite with Italians of all ages, but especially children.

In the olives, hummus and pesto category you’ll find some delicious accompaniments, and some lovely vegetable treats. We have artisinal bread-sticks, fat and juicy Gordal pitted olives, artichocke hearts and more.

Extended Outdoor Seating at Amaretto Delicatessen

Come and eat between the arches: from Monday 12th April, 2021

Here at Amaretto Deli, we’re pleased to say that we’ve secured a licence from Norwich City Council to extend our temporary outdoor seating area, so you’ll be able to sit between the arched buttresses of St Andrew’s Hall, directly opposite the deli. The licence gives us eight more seats and two tables beside the beautiful flint walls. This is in addition to the seating area outside the shop, and will be open from Monday 12^th April, in line with lockdown rules.

When we placed small tables outside the deli last year, they proved very popular. In light of the ongoing pandemic, Fabrizio put in an application for extra outdoor seating last year, and was delighted when it was accepted.

We will share the space with St Andrew’s Hall, vacating it whenever it is needed for their events. Fab is very grateful to both Norwich City Council, and St Andrew’s Hall for all their help with all this. The space will allow more of you to make the most of good weather, and to enjoy eating together in a beautiful setting.

Our coffee from Vinci called La Torrefazione Caffè Leonardo is back in stock in our Norwich deli – and you won’t find it anywhere else in the UK.

The coffee is roasted just along from the hill-top village where Leonardo da Vinci was born in 1452, and our Fabrizio a few years later – this coffee is his taste of home.

In operation since the sixties, the artisanal producer has had decades of experience in the hard coffee drinking Italian culture. They have perfected a roasting process that eschews all chemicals in order to create distinctive bags of beans or ground coffee in either medium, strong or decaffeinated blends for expresso machines, your stovetop coffee pot or cafetière.

The coffee is available in small or large bags, beans, or ground, depending on how your habit goes.

They bags of coffee also look great; and do well in a hamper or as an original Christmas gift.
