Why not choose some good food and celebrate in style by sending a bespoke Valentine’s Day Gift Hamper this year. It’s a great gift for your loved one but February 14th doesn’t have to be for one special set of love-birds only; if you know someone else who needs a pick-me-up some good food could be just the ticket. We offer a bespoke hamper service either online or in our shop. You just pay £3.50 for the hamper basket and then choose any of the food in our shop in order to craft a gift that is perfectly suited to you and your loved one.

Make up your own Valentine’s Day Hamper

If you want to order online, let us know where you’d like us to deliver (in NR1-NR7), write a note in the special delivery note slot online, and we will do the rest. Otherwise come down to our St George’s Street shop and you can pick out the food yourself.

Most people go for a mix of sweet and savoury gifts in their Valentine’s Day Hamper, but the choice is yours; you can make a picnic hamper, a sweet hamper, a savoury hamper… We have a range of antipasti: olives, our Italian cheese and hams; that make up a lovely hamper. For those looking for a full three course meal, why not choose some speciality pasta, and a rich tasty sauce. Sweeten things up with our special gift bags: the chocolate brownies are a particular favourite. We also have lots of specilaity chocolates to choose from; Italian favourites that are lovely in a sweet gift hamper. Top it all off with some Leonardo Cafe.

Preorder food for Christmas or New Year now

Looking to beat the crowd? Get ahead and order fresh food for Christmas or New Year now.

In the final week before Christmas, our shop gets very busy as everyone comes in to order cheese, olives, salami, hams and all the other lovely food that makes for a lovely Christmas spread.

If you’d like to, this year you can pre-oder food from Amaretto Deli using our online shop. We offer food for click and collect or delivery in NR1-NR7; it’s easy to do and you can specify your ideal delivery slot on the delivery note section of the order. We are open up to and including Christmas Eve, and then re-open on Tuesday 30th for New Year’s.

Do browse our cheese category to find your cheese board selection; including melt in the mouth gorgonzola and the sheep’s milk cheese, manchego.  This semi-cured cheese is delicious and a tasty choice for those who can’t tolerate cow’s milk. You’ll also find membrillo paste, made from quince, which is a great accompniament to your cheese board, and makes a nice change from pickles.

If you’re looking for some cured hams for your Christmas or New Year table, then browse the prosciutto, ham and salume category; here you’ll find the fragrant finochionna (fennel salami), which is addictive, laced with fennel seeds and merlot wine and is refreshingly light in flavour. There is also the classic prosciutto di Parma DOP, and the Bolognese luncheon meat, mortadella, which is always a favourite with Italians of all ages, but especially children.

In the olives, hummus and pesto category you’ll find some delicious accompaniments, and some lovely vegetable treats. We have artisinal bread-sticks, fat and juicy Gordal pitted olives, artichocke hearts and more.

One scoop or two? Serving up Parravani’s ice cream any time you fancy it

Normally in summer we would wheel out our ice cream cart and serve you just outside the shop, but these days we have our seating placed there, so please do come in and ask us for a cone or cup any time you feel like it, or…

…drown your ice cream in coffee like Juliette Binoche

We serve vanilla, coffee, chocolate and strawberry by cup or cone, single scoop or double; or why not go for an affogato ( which means ‘drowned’ in Italian) – a hot espresso poured over a scoop of ice cream for a cool pick-me-up that is the perfect summer treat, and a delicious alternative to an iced coffee. If it’s good enough for Juliette Binoche in Three Colours Blue, it’s good enough for us.

Ice Ice baby: an Italian recipe created 120 years ago

Whatever you go for it will be by Parravani’s; an ice cream created by Guiseppe Parravani from Sicily in 1898, and originally sold on Ber Street in Norwich. Now based in Beccles, Parravani’s uses milk and cream from Norfolk and local fruits where possible, and their ice cream is made by hand using Guiseppe’s recipe that has been passed down through the family over the years (you can read the Parravanis’ fascinating story here). As with all good Italian gelato it is quite soft (although not quite as soft as the traditional gelato) and designed so you can really taste the base flavour.

Extended Outdoor Seating at Amaretto Delicatessen

Come and eat between the arches: from Monday 12th April, 2021

Here at Amaretto Deli, we’re pleased to say that we’ve secured a licence from Norwich City Council to extend our temporary outdoor seating area, so you’ll be able to sit between the arched buttresses of St Andrew’s Hall, directly opposite the deli. The licence gives us eight more seats and two tables beside the beautiful flint walls. This is in addition to the seating area outside the shop, and will be open from Monday 12th April, in line with lockdown rules.

When we placed small tables outside the deli last year, they proved very popular. In light of the ongoing pandemic, Fabrizio put in an application for extra outdoor seating last year, and was delighted when it was accepted.

We will share the space with St Andrew’s Hall, vacating it whenever it is needed for their events. Fab is very grateful to both Norwich City Council, and St Andrew’s Hall for all their help with all this. The space will allow more of you to make the most of good weather, and to enjoy eating together in a beautiful setting.

Delicious Mother’s Day Gifts, Norwich – Delivery & Collection available

Mother’s Day falls on Sunday 14th March this year, the fourth Sunday of Lent, as ever.

Given that Easter is earlier this year, so is Mother’s Day, and it’s coming at a time when we are still in fairly stringent lockdown.

What to do?

If you’re looking for a Mother’s Day gift for delivery or to pick-up/ choose in store in Norwich then we can help you.

We have a range of lovely food that would be good for a picnic, if you are able to meet up with your mum and fancy braving the cold.

Picnic food includes olives, cheeses, salami, hams, nice bread, artichokes, crisps, sausage rolls, sandwiches and so on.

Cheese Hamper

If you’re looking for a special gift then why not make up a hamper, using some of the fresh and dry food in the shop; according to taste. We are a speciality Italian deli, and have won awards for the quality of our produce, which we source from the best producers. You could build a hamper for an easy and high-quality dinner, using pasta and sauce, or you could make up a sweet hamper, or a mix of the two; you know best.

We have a whole range of products to choose from, which you can browse in our online shop. The food is then placed in a hamper basket with raffia and ribbons (for only £3.50 on top of the price of your food).

Please note that we are unable to deliver on Mother’s Day itself, as we are closed on Sundays. Please let us know the ideal day for delivery on your order – we can drop off on Saturday afternoon. Do pre-order as soon as possible if that’s your preference.
