Delicious Mother’s Day Gifts, Norwich – Delivery & Collection available

Mothers Day Gift Hamper

Mother’s Day falls on Sunday 14th March this year, the fourth Sunday of Lent, as ever.

Given that Easter is earlier this year, so is Mother’s Day, and it’s coming at a time when we are still in fairly stringent lockdown.

What to do?

If you’re looking for a Mother’s Day gift for delivery or to pick-up/ choose in store in Norwich then we can help you.

We have a range of lovely food that would be good for a picnic, if you are able to meet up with your mum and fancy braving the cold.

Picnic food includes olives, cheeses, salami, hams, nice bread, artichokes, crisps, sausage rolls, sandwiches and so on.

If you’re looking for a special gift then why not make up a hamper, using some of the fresh and dry food in the shop; according to taste. We are a speciality Italian deli, and have won awards for the quality of our produce, which we source from the best producers. You could build a hamper for an easy and high-quality dinner, using pasta and sauce, or you could make up a sweet hamper, or a mix of the two; you know best.

We have a whole range of products to choose from, which you can browse in our online shop. The food is then placed in a hamper basket with raffia and ribbons (for only £3.50 on top of the price of your food).

Please note that we are unable to deliver on Mother’s Day itself, as we are closed on Sundays. Please let us know the ideal day for delivery on your order – we can drop off on Saturday afternoon. Do pre-order as soon as possible if that’s your preference.

Do browse the gifts on our online shop now, or come and see on at 16, St Georges Street.

Enjoy, and buon appetito.

Stocking fillers and secret santa gifts at Amaretto Deli, Norwich

Italian nougat, Amaretto Deli, Norwich

Looking for Christmas stocking fillers or Secret Santa gifts in Norwich?

The Amaretto Deli Christmas table is stacked full of original Italian chocolates and festive food that are decently priced and wrapped in rich colours. They make for lovely stocking fillers or Secret Santa gifts.

++ please note you can also browse for stocking fillers and secret santa gifts in our online shop: click and collect or delivery available in NR1-NR7. ++

Christmas is a time for good food, good company, and, in our opinion, thoughtful gifts that do not cost the earth. Novelty stocking fillers or Secret Santa gifts can be fun, but increasingly, it does not feel so good to fill up our homes with short-lived gifts that end up going to land-fill sooner rather than later.

As the commercial buzz hots up, one way of avoiding lots of short-lived or wasteful gifts is to invest in some really nice food.

In terms of stocking fillers, Amaretto has a number of gifts between £2.50 – £7.95 that fit the bill:

Italian nougat, stocking filler, Amaretto Deli, Norwich

Chocolate covered nougat, £2.95

The nougat is soft, the chocolate is dark and rich: and this stick makes for old-fashioned good looks in a Christmas Eve stocking. (Please note this gift is not available online).

Cunesi al Limoncello, stocking filler norwichChocolate liqueurs from the north of Italy; £7.95, assorted flavours.

These chocolates look way more expensive than they are – why not try a mixed bag full of rum, amaretto, limoncello and cherry liqueur chocolates: buy one for your colleague then one for yourself: you won’t regret it.

Caffe Leonardo, from Vinci, Tuscany

Festive packets of Leonardo Cafe, from Vinci, Tuscany, £5.00

We’ve had these gifts in the shop for years now, and people come back for them year after year. We are the only place in the country to stock this smooth and tasty Italian coffee.

These are just some examples of the smaller gifts we have on offer – we also have Torrone, panforte and lots more, all wrapped in lovely paper, and famously delicious.

All our Christmas gifts are sourced from Italy and popular; we’re pretty sure that nothing will get wasted here!

As well as this food, we also do Christmas Hampers.

See you soon!

Team Amaretto.

Looking for some special Italian Coffee that you won’t find anywhere else?

Caffe Leonardo Italian Coffee Norwich

Our coffee from Vinci called La Torrefazione Caffè Leonardo is back in stock in our Norwich deli – and you won’t find it anywhere else in the UK.

The coffee is roasted just along from the hill-top village where Leonardo da Vinci was born in 1452, and our Fabrizio a few years later – this coffee is his taste of home.

In operation since the sixties, the artisanal producer has had decades of experience in the hard coffee drinking Italian culture. They have perfected a roasting process that eschews all chemicals in order to create distinctive bags of beans or ground coffee in either medium, strong or decaffeinated blends for expresso machines, your stovetop coffee pot or cafetière.

The coffee is available in small or large bags, beans, or ground, depending on how your habit goes.

They bags of coffee also look great; and do well in a hamper or as an original Christmas gift.

Maple is so last year. Why not try some birch syrup?

North Pennine Birch Syrup

Know a gourmet in your life who is looking to discover something new? Have you ever tried birch syrup? Until a few weeks ago, I hadn’t even heard of it. Then the North Pennine Birch company popped up on twitter, and my curiosity was piqued.

The North Pennines is an area of outstanding beauty located in the far North of England between Carlisle and Darlington and the company is the first producer of birch syrup in the UK – normally it’s produced in Russia, Alaska or Canada. Birch syrup is rarer than its famous maple counter-part, because, amongst other reasons, it is so hard to tap. This makes it something of a speciality.

North Pennine have done a splendid job of bottling this syrup; it is beautifully presented in an elegant bottle with an equally elegant design showcasing their beautiful birch trees. Pop the lid and the syrup that comes out has something of the consistency of balsamic vinegar and a subtle woodland taste, with notes of caramel. Whilst the syrup can be used for sweets, this is no maple substitute; it’s comprised of fructose rather than maple’s sucrose and has a more complex flavour which means it doesn’t taste that sugary. It’s not really for lacing over pancakes but is ideal for glazes, marinades and, (here thanks to the Alaskan websites), vodka, as well as giving a subtle infusion of the forest to cakes and autumn bakes. It’s full of vitamins and minerals (including vitamin C, potassium, manganese, thiamin and calcium); a kind of super-syrup.

Helpfully, North Pennine have a host of lovely recipes on their website, savoury and sweet – and you can order the syrup direct there too; how great to try something new and to support a fantastic and original new UK venture too. It’s a truly unique product – as the Alaskan site Birch Boy says:

“Syrup from each producer has distinctive qualities….Flavour and colour varies, depending on the type of trees, the minerals in the soil, and the different equipment and methods used. The qualities even vary from season to season and day to day.”

So why not try some out. Our favourite recipe on the North Pennine site is the marzipan almond cake with birch plums: but what do you think?

Take a look at the North Pennine Birch website; you can order a bottle direct there too. Let us know what you think if you do…
