This Lemon Cream Italian Columba dove cake is made by our first class panettone makers Gilber, in Turin. Gilber uses quadruple leavened dough, lemon cream and a sugar glaze to make this Italian Easter classic which is hand-wrapped and makes for a lovely gift.

The Columba cake has been around since the 12th Century, and its dove shape symobises peace. Light and delicate, it really does melt in the mouth. The attractive hand-wrapping makes for a good-looking Easter gift too.

Ingredients: Wheat flour, Lemon cream 25%: glucose syrup, water, sugar, vegetable fats (cocnut, sunflower, cotton, safflower in var. prop.), sweetened egg yolk (50% sugar, 50% egg yolk), ethyl alcohol, reparation based on powdered milk (skimmed milk powder, milk protein), potato starch, whey powder, gelling agent: pectin, preserving agent: potassium sorbate, flavouring, lemon juice conc. 0.12%, salt). Butter, egg yolk, sugar, lemon peel candied paste: lemon peel, glucose-fructose syrup, sugar. Natural leavening: wheat flour, water. Inverted sugar syrup, emulsifier: mono and diglicerides of food, fatty acids of vegetal origin, salt, natural lemon flavouring. May contain traces of nuts: peanuts, soya and pistachio.
