This Choclate Chip Italian Columba dove cake is made by our first class panettone makers Gilber, in Turin. Gilber uses quadruple leavened dough, chocolate chips and a sugar glaze to make this Italian Easter cake (no currants or candied peel in this one) which is hand-wrapped and makes for a lovely gift. Chocolate Chip Colomba Dove Cake, 1Kg

The Columba cake has been around since the 12th Century, and its dove shape symobises peace. Light and delicate, it really does melt in the mouth. The attractive hand-wrapping makes for a good-looking Easter gift too.

Ingredients: Wheat flour, chocolate chips (18%): cocoa min 43%, sugar, cocoa paste, cocoa butter, emulsifier: soya lecithin, flavouring. Butter, egg yolk, sugar. Frosting: sugar, egg white, hazelnuts, ground rice. Natural leavening: wheat flour, water. Inverted sugar syrup. Orange peel candied paste: orange peel, glucose-fructose syrup, sugar. Decoration: sugar, cocoa cereals: maize flour, rice flour, wheat flour, sugar, low-fat cocoa powder (3%), barley malt extract, salt and chocolate drops. Emulsifier: mono and diglicerides of food, fatty acids of vegetal origin. Salt natural orange flavouring. May contain traces of peanuts, almonds and pistachio.
